S.H.A.P.E. Assessment Results
Thank you Charlene Mares for taking the SHAPE Assessment. We encourage you to meet with a Church Leader that you respect, to go over your results, so that they can help you discover a place to serve in the church and/or community, and also to help you fine-tune your 5 Main Focuses/Priorities listed at the bottom of this email under the ‘Wrapping it up’ section. May God Bless You!

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I am more blessed to give than to receive. Whenever we asked my dad what he wanted for his birthday, Christmas or Father’s Day, he would reply “Nothing; I just want you kids to behave for the day”. I did not understand this until I became a parent. I experience much joy in giving gifts. I recently gave my car to my granddaughter and sold my house to my oldest son for the remaining part of the mortgage that was left. I recently joined a church in Salisbury, NC and have been supporting them weekly with an offering. I also continue to give special offerings to my former church in Zion, IL.
This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
When I was young, my sister and I would go around to neighborhoods in the summer and tell Bible stories. I taught a 2nd grade Sunday School class for over 26 years. I was a counselor at Camp Zion many times for Primary Camp (1st through 3rd grade) and Jr. High Camp (7th and 8th grade). I helped out with Junior (4th through 6th grade) and Jr. High (7th and 8th grade) activities for many years. Sometimes I would give the devotions and even led others to Christ. I joined the Zion Passion Play when I was in 5th grade, so I have some acting experience, which is also a way of presenting the gospel and learning Scripture. I have also helped out at Vacation Bible School. I have read many different versions of the Bible, but am still learning and trying to memorize verses.
This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I enjoy doing things for others and seeing the joy on their faces. I also have many talents for doing office work since I worked at Abbott Laboratories for over 48 years. I can do word processing, data entry and proofreading in the church office. I have been told that I have a pleasant telephone voice. I would also like to sing in the choir when my knees recover from knee replacement surgeries and I can walk up and down stairs without being in pain. I have also cooked at Camp Zion.
[H]eart
1. I love to sing.
2. I enjoy being with children, teaching them and watching them grow in Christ.
3. I like being around other Christians, but know that we need to spread the Word to others so they can have eternal life also.
I pretty much love children the most – preferably younger ones because they seem to be eager to learn. I do have a problem getting up and down on the floor with them because of my knees.
This is something I have been praying about for awhile and I know God will let me know in His time.

Your Primary was ‘The Beaver’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Lion’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God
Beaver- Organized. Beavers think that there is a right way to do everything and they want to do it exactly that way. Beaver personalities are very creative. They desire to solve everything. Desire to take their time and do it right. Beavers do not like sudden changes. They need reassurance.
Strength: High standards, order, respect
Weakness: Unrealistic expectations of self & others, too perfect.
Limitation: Seeing the optimistic side of things, expressing flexibility
Lion- This personality likes to lead. The lion is good at making decisions and is very goal-oriented. They enjoy challenges, difficult assignments, and opportunity for advancement. Because lions are thinking of the goal, they can step on people to reach it. Lions can be very aggressive and competitive. Lions must learn not to be too bossy or to take charge in other’s affairs.
Strength: Goal-oriented, strong, direct
Weakness: Argumentative, too dictatorial
Limitation: Doesn’t understand that directness can hurt others, hard time expressing grace
[E]xperience
I accepted Jesus as my Savior in VBS around 4th grade. My mom’s family grew up in the church and she had my dad drop us off and pick us up every week for Sunday School. When I was in 4th grade, one of my cousins who lived 2 houses away from us asked me to go to activities ( similar to Awana) with her. We received points for attending S.S. and church and saying verses. So to get more points, I started staying for church and rode home with my aunt and uncle. Later I came because I wanted to.

Attending Camp Zion as a camper and also as staff.
Having two wonderful sons that are Christians. Was able to put them both through college where they met their Christian wives.
Being a member of a Bible-based church growing up in Zion, IL and now in Salisbury, NC.
I did not believe in divorce, but my unbelieving husband was committing adultery and requested the divorce. From our marriage, I received two great sons. Through many prayers, my ex-husband finally became a believer several years ago. I was an enabler for several years in a Divorce/Support Recovery group.
In 1982, my husband lost his job; I was pregnant with twins and lost them after 6-1/2 months; and my favorite uncle died. I was a real basket case, but through prayers, and with the help of God, loving family and friends, I made it through this difficult year. This experience made me have compassion for those who lose a baby, child or any loved one.
This past year, I had two knee replacement surgeries. Since I have been quite active in the past and very independent, it was hard for me to ask others for help. My brother and sister-in-law took me to the hospital and stayed with me; they let me stay at their house, cooked for me, did my laundry, took me to physical therapy and church and many other things. I had a cousin who helped me move to NC, and others that helped with packing and unpacking in February this year. Now that I am back to driving, I do a lot of taxi service for my grandchildren. I have been able to help out with babysitting and meals, also. Could not have done any of this without God!
